Choosing
a Class
The age recommendations outlined for
Kindermusik classes have been carefully constructed to best
group children in an age and developmentally appropriate way.
Therefore, it is important that your child be at least the
minimum age by the start of the semester for the class in
which you are enrolling. If you have concerns about your
child’s success in a particular age range, I would love to
discuss your child’s needs and to work with you to place him
in the class best suited for him.
Free
Visits
At certain
times throughout each
session, I am happy to schedule a free visit in one of my
classes. Please
call for availability.
Register
Early
Although
you may join our classes at any time, please register early
since class sizes are limited and many fill quickly.
Registering at least three weeks before the semester begins
also ensures that I will have your child’s materials for you
at your first class. If you enroll after the semester begins,
tuition can be pro-rated accordingly.
Enrollment
Confirmation
A
registration form and deposit must be received before
enrollment can be confirmed. You will receive a phone call,
e-mail or mailed notice to confirm your registration before
classes begin.
Satisfaction
Guaranteed
If you aren't
completely happy with your Kindermusik experience after
attending at least five consecutive classes, I will refund or
credit all of your tuition except for the cost of Home
Materials which are yours to keep and enjoy. Pro-rated tuition
refunds are also given in case of withdrawal due to unforeseen
circumstances.
Inclement
Weather Policy
In
case of inclement weather, Kindermusik classes follow the
Canandaigua City School District schedule:
-
If
Canandaigua schools are closed, all Kindermusik classes will be
cancelled.
-
If
schools have a delayed opening, there will be no morning
classes.
-
If
schools close early, there will be no Kindermusik classes after 12
PM
-
If
"after school and evening activities" are
canceled, there will be no classes after 2 PM.
Make-up
Classes
I
am happy to allow students who miss a class to join another
age-appropriate class during the week. Simply call in advance to schedule make-ups.
I will do my best to schedule make-up classes in the event of teacher illness or inclement
weather, either by adding classes to a scheduled vacation week
or adding classes to the end of the semester.
Non-enrolled
Siblings
Due
to limited class sizes and the delicacy of the younger class
settings, Village and Our Time classes can only
accommodate non-enrolled siblings when the sibling is young
enough to stay contented in a car carrier or stroller.
Emergency exceptions are understood.
Siblings of any
age are welcome to join parents for the Sharing Time at the
end of Imagine That! and Young Child classes.
Making
the Most of Kindermusik Classes
Plan
to arrive about 5-10 minutes early for
class. Arriving a little before class provides time for your
child to settle in to the musical environment as they prepare
to enjoy exploring instruments, reading books, or listening to
music. Please also show consideration for other class
members by being ready for class at the designated time so we
can begin class on time.
Please keep all
toys, juice cups, and pacifiers out of sight and ensure snacks
are finished prior to class. Be sure to dress comfortably.
During class, the most important thing you can do for your
child is to be an active and patient role model. It is not
uncommon for a child to attend several classes before feeling
comfortable in class. Don’t be discouraged – what a child
is absorbing in class is often evidenced in the comfort of the
home environment rather than in a certain level of
participation in class. The understanding and consistency of
the parent or caregiver in class and at home are key to
facilitating musical learning and growth.
I love for
parents to visit with each other before or after class, but not during
class time, please! When you are an active, focused,
enthusiastic participant in the class activities, your child
will model your actions and focus more fully too.
You
and your child will enormously benefit from the Kindermusik
experience, especially if you make active use of your At
Home Materials. Frequent reinforcement at home
throughout the week makes all the difference in a child’s
comfort and participation in the classroom. |
